What to bring
Pack for fire, trail and weather
Camp opens at the gate at 9:00 a.m. Label everything with your camper's first name.
Closed-toe boots
Sturdy shoes that can get dirty and wet. No sandals at the ring or on the trail.
Long pants
Required on fire days, in cotton or wool, with a cotton or wool top. Nylon and synthetic fleece stay out of the fire circle.
A rain shell
For wet mornings and the trail. Weather changes fast in the pines, so layers help.
A hat and sunscreen
A brimmed hat, and sunscreen already on before you arrive.
A filled water bottle
Labeled, and filled before camp. We refill it at every break, and a bucket stays full at every fire.
A day pack
Big enough for lunch, a jacket and a water bottle. We practice packing it in the first badge.
Lunch from home
Packed in a cold pack. We don't share food between campers, and a snack is on hand at the afternoon break.
A notebook and pencil
For quiet time, map work and a field journal.
Hair ties and a bandana
Long hair is tied back on fire days.
Leave at home
Some things stay home
A day at the fire ring is easier without these. If something matters to your camper, ask us first.
Phones and tablets
Lighters, matches and knives
Nylon jackets for fire days
Jewelry and anything valuable
